What:  A GMH Parlor Presentation /Woman’s History Month Lecture:
Savannah's Preservation Keepers: Women of the Movement from Mt. Vernon to Today
Speaker: Jamie Credle, Executive Director, Green-Meldrim House.
When: Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Time:  Social at 5:30 p.m.  The program begins at 6 p.m.
Where:  Green-Meldrim House, 14 W. Macon Street
Description:  Credle will speak on the women who have played roles in the historic preservation of the city and beyond.  It is useful to remember how far Savannah has come saving one building at a time. Women have led the way
-  both in recognizing the importance of preserving evidence of our nations past and in working to keep them from slipping away.   “Abigail Adams told her husband, John, to `remember the ladies, and that is what we will do!” says Executive Director Credle.
About the speaker:  Jamie Credle came to the Green-Meldrim House as Executive Director in July 2023.  She is responsible for the management of the 1853 Gothic Revival style home of a successful cotton factor in Savannah, Georgia as a historic site open to the public.  The Keepers of Historic Green-Meldrim House received a non-profit designation in October of 2023 transferring operations of the National Historic Landmark from St. John
s Church, which utilized the house as its parish house.  Also, in October Credle received a Lifetime Achievement Award, for 20 years of service as Director of the Davenport House Museum from the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council. In June 2023 she received the Scott W. Smith Award for Excellence in Leadership from the Coastal Museum Association also for her work at Davenport House Museum, a museum property owned by Historic Savannah Foundation.
